Self care is not a luxury! It’s also not you getting to go to the supermarket alone, however nice that actually is it’s not self care.
Self care will look very different to each one of us but at Zen Babies I try touch on a little of what matters to you. It’s not just the babies that will enjoy and feel relaxed. I aim to make your experience a whole shared experience, creating quality time with your baby but chance to remember who you are and that you matter too. It might be the fun question we start all sessions with makes you remember a hobby or it might be chatting to another parent that sparks something and helps you find the balance. It might be that you meet like minded people and meet up for pram walks, coffee or even wine! Whatever it is you’re important in the class too, baby gets massage but you get space for you, for you and baby together and a little chance to remember who you are.
If you need an hour just for you, I’ve got you covered, join one of my guided meditation classes, with your baby but the focus is on you and resetting and relaxing your mind. Immerse yourself in the meditation and allow it to focus and refresh you. Babies will have a little led sensory play and you’ll have chance to talk with other parents but the aim is just for you to relax.
🌿 Mini Moments of Self-Care
When there’s not enough time for a full spa weekend or to spend the afternoon on your favourite hobby self care can come in mini moments to set your day on a positive note or to calm and reset at any time.
🌼Morning Moment
Ok I know your baby has fed through the night and maybe even you were joined by your toddler who sleeps like a windmill but when it is time to get out of bed try this first.
🌱Take 5 long deep breaths, calmly and slowing exhaling.
🌱Lift your knees into your chest and hug your legs, rock side to side
🌱Put your feet down with you knees bent and let them drop to one side, look the opposite way creating a spinal twist, gently allowing your back to stretch in a relaxed way- repeat in the other direction
🌱Grab both feet with your arms on the inside of your legs, allow your legs to come beside in happy baby pose
🌿Midday Mindfulness
Stop! You’ve been on the go since baby woke, down feeds and nappies, errands, school runs, washing and you’re about to skip lunch. Stop a minute, maybe baby is happy for two minutes with the dancing fruit on you tube or has fallen asleep after a pram walk, so stop just a minute and sit or lie somewhere comfy.
🌱Close your eyes and focus on your breath
🌱Take a deeper longer breath in, hold and then slowly fully release the air.
🌱Again breath slowly and deeply
🌱On your next inhale bring your attention to your head and face, adjust if you need to and allow the exhale to release any tension
🌱Each inhale scan further down your body, check your shoulders, chest, arms and hands, stomach and pelvis, legs, knees, ankles and feet with each intake and exhale scan a little further leaving each area feeling relaxed and release any tension.
🌱Allow a moment for you and feel refreshed.
